In our “Introduction to Systematic Theology” we will take a deep dive into the foundational truths that shape our life, faith and worship. You can choose from one of three texts or if you are really ambitious you can read from all three.

Horton, Michael. Pilgrim Theology: Core Doctrines for Christian Disciples. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2012. Horton follows the pattern of classic reformed theologies. He will draw from history, philosophy and the biblical text. He is far richer in some areas, but also more technical.

Grudem, Wayne. Biblical Doctrine: Essential Teachings of the Christian Faith, . Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 1999. Grudem also approaches theology from the reformed tradition. He is credo-baptist (believer’s baptism) and historical premillennial. He is a bit more plain spoken than Horton, and is more concerned with the biblical text than history and philosophy.

Grudem, Wayne. Christian Beliefs: Twenty Basics Every Christian Should Know. Edited by Elliot Grudem. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2005. This is a condensed version of Grudem’s much larger work. Highly recommended survey of Christian Doctrine.
